Curious to know if anyone's doing this...

The forty days of prayer and fasting for the Pan-Amazon Synod have begun.  I'm curious to know:
  • Are any of the readers/participants/casual browsers here at OHCA participating in this prayer event?
  • To what extent (if any) were you aware of the recommendations and goals put forth in the synod's working paper (the Instrumentum Laboris)?
  • Are there any particular provisions in the working paper which you find particularly disturbing, or any provisions which sound like good ideas which should be explored further and eventually adopted/implemented?
  • Is the Pan-Amazon Synod, in your opinion, a big deal, or is it one of those things where the bishops and participants will do what's best for the Church, and everything will work out?

I really would like to know your opinions on the matter.  If you think I'm being shrill and unnecessarily alarmist, tell me.

Take a few moments to think about this synod.   I implore you, my fellow Catholics and readers at OHCA, to join in this prayer vigil.

It's important to understand the magnitude of the crisis our Church is facing, and has been facing for many years now.  This is not the time to be complacent, to say, "Well, things are just fine in my parish, and I say my daily prayers, so I guess it's OK."  Don't keep your head in the sand, fellow Catholic.  If they end up approving even half of the nonsense they're proposing for the Pan-Amazon Synod, your Church will suffer for it.  These people are intent on irrevocably changing Christ's Church; German prelates have said as much.  They've even boasted of it.
We must pray, and pray hard.  If you are unfamiliar with the Pan-Amazon Synod, or why some of your fellow Catholics seem so perturbed by it, I urge you to educate yourself.  Resources better than this link most certainly abound, but these articles will at least get you started:

and

An Urgent Request for Prayer and Fasting

If you don't think this is a big deal, if you think everything is fine and that, in fact, the Amazon Synod is precisely what the Church needs at this moment, then by all means, please tell your fellow readers why you think so!  The comment box is waiting for you.

O/P: Those Darn Toxic Traddies!

I'm a traditional Catholic.  A " Traddie ," as friends and detractors alike label us.  I wear the badge of Beware the Toxic Traddie! "Traddie" with joy.  Being a Traddie offers stability, sanity, and context in these days of unprecedented turmoil and upheaval for our beloved Church.  I encourage my friends in the real world to discover the joys of the Traditional/Extraordinary Form of the Mass, and I endeavor to encourage my acquaintances in the Catholic Blog-O-Sphere to do likewise. One consistent criticism leveled against Traddies is that we lack charity.  There is some substance to this.  Welder Chick, our OHCA foundress of happy memory, pointed out this shortcoming on more than one occasion, and she was right. The characterization is often overplayed by non-Traddies, who act as if they consider this character flaw sufficient grounds for dismissing traditional Catholics in their entirety.  Yes, there are cranky Traddies out there who lack c...

Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven."

He asked himself, ‘What shall I do, for I do not have space to store my harvest?’ And he said, ‘This is what I shall do: I shall tear down my barns and build larger ones. There I shall store all my grain and other goods and I shall s...
