BLE & BAE Discussion - Feast of the Chair of Saint Peter, Apostle

 The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

Verse Before the Gospel

You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church;
the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.

When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi
he asked his disciples,
ā€œWho do people say that the Son of Man is?ā€
They replied, ā€œSome say John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.ā€
He said to them, ā€œBut who do you say that I am?ā€
Simon Peter said in reply,
ā€œYou are the Christ, the Son of the living God.ā€
Jesus said to him in reply, ā€œBlessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my Church,
and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.ā€

In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice, "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Holy One of God!" Jesus rebuked him and said, "Be quiet! Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm.
